I aim to complete all research within a week, this includes researching about the genre and gathering first and second hand research.
Research:
Week One:
- Research the Pop genre by looking at magazines that focus on the genre, and different artists that come under the genre. I will also look at how Pop artists distribute their music and how they present themselves in different forms of media.
- I will also look at the artists websites and album covers to see how although they are in the same genre of music, but each stand out individually.
- I will also put together a questionnaire with the aim of collecting data on music magazines so I get an idea of what my music magazine should be like and the conventions which should be used but to also get an opinion that is different to mine by asking different people.
- After gathering information from the questionnaire I plan to collate the information into different graphs to present the data, so then I can work on defining my target audience for my magazine. Then assigning the audience uses and gratifications.
- Then I plan to compare and look at 3 different magazine front covers and contents pages and analyse and annotate any key conventions I see.
- I then plan to carry out an investigation into how magazines are distributed and sold and who would possibly be interested in distributing and selling my magazine.
- I then am going to create a profile for my magazine with information regarding it's price, profile and it's sales location.
Week Three:
- I will plan the overall layout of the cover, contents and page spread, deciding on what form my masthead should take, and what the layouts should be for all my pages and then creating mock versions of each page.
- Then I need to take original images after planning them, then choose 5 to go in my magazine then edit, annotate and analyse each of them then explain why I chosen these images to be placed into my magazine.
- I need to explain the technology used in taking and editing the images and how I was creative and innotave when taking the images.
- I then need to take audience feedback after letting them see my magazine cover, then adjusting the cover after taking feedback from them.
Week Four:
- Create the final versions of my magazine front cover, contents page, and double spread.
Week Four:
- Write up answers to the answers to these questions:
- In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of real media products?
- How does your media product represent particular social groups?
- What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?
- Who would be the audience of your media product?
- How did you attract/address your audience?
- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
- Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
